Ukraine's power facilities have faced increased attacks in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to power cuts in extensive areas of the capital city, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were injured while residents in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and encountered disruption to drinking water, as stated by local authorities.

Meanwhile, a minor was lost their life in a distinct aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, according to area administrators.

Russian forces has escalated assaults on energy facilities over recent weeks, while officials has demanded "substantial measures" from partner nations to increase pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not window dressing but strong steps - from the United States, European nations and the Group of Seven - in providing protection systems and implementing sanctions," was stated in a social media post.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and several dozen projectiles attacked energy facilities, labeling such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were working to restore power.

A series of attacks damaged electrical systems and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Several of the people injured in the assaults on the capital have been taken to hospital, according to local officials.

Government officials told the media that Russia was intentionally trying to destroy the country's energy grid, with attacks already impacting energy systems.

Authorities confirmed technical personnel and government agencies were preparing for more assaults.
